Correct - the Gutsy->Hardy upgrade included the FF update.

This persisted after a restart.

I didn't try running killall gnome-panel (or xfce which is what I'm
running) as it didn't occur to me.  I can't tell you whether that would
make a difference as I've already changed the launcher icon manually.
My guess is that, if a restart didn't refresh the icon location, then a
killall wouldn't either.

Perhaps this is specific to xfce?
