My applications list is populated, but it's effects are from from
perfect.

I'm running ubuntu with the kde-desktop package, currently using kde.
For torrent files, there are options for transmission (default) and
ktorrent in the applications tab. Still, the open file dialog that
appears if I set it to always ask only gives me to options: save or
cancel.

Removing the mimetypes.rdf file only resulted in several file types -
including torrent files - disappearing from the list with no way to add
them, as the open file dialog for them still contained only save and
cancel. Restoring the file repaired this, but not the original problem.
