I'm going to put this one to "invalid" for now. The graying out just means that firefox is not responding, possibly because of the website you visit (either a problem with the website, or a problem with firefox).

Your best option would be to report the problem upstream via
http://hendrix.mozilla.org/ (via the firefox website) or in firefox
itself using Help/Report Broken website if you can still use firefox
before it becomes grayed out.

It's not going to fixed in the current firefox release, if the firefox
developers find the problem it wil be solved in the next beta.
