I'm hitting the issue from the original report when using my default locale - bg_BG.UTF-8
I'm on a clean-installed Ubuntu 8.04, running firefox 3.0b5

root at rev2:~# lsb_release -rd
Description:	Ubuntu 8.04
Release:	8.04
root at rev2:~# apt-cache policy firefox
firefox:
  Инсталирана: 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3
  Кандидат: 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3
  Таблица с версиите:
 *** 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3 0
        500 http://bg.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Issue is not present after disabling Bulgarian Language (Tools>Add-ons>Languages>Firefox(bg)) or start it with:
$ export LANG=en_US; firefox
