This happens to me as well, and I'm running Firefox 3 on Windows XP. I
believe this problem is caused by the positioning of the context menu in
Firefox 3. In previous versions, if I remember correctly, the point
that you right-mouse click marks the corner of where the menu pops up.
In Firefox 3, I find that the point you click marks somewhere in the
middle of the menu. So, the cursor is now directly to the left of one
of the options in the menu (or, if you're on the far right side of the
screen, directly ON the menu). My guess is that if you're moving along
quickly, Firefox interprets your motion as another click and brings up
the option it thinks you clicked on. That explains why holding down the
button prevents this problem.

Still, pretty annoying, since I usually am moving my cursor around
pretty quickly.
