I am experiencing the same issue (I guess). I run the standard Hardy 8.04 with Gnome. Everything is standard, I keep my system up-to-date and no visual effects are enabled.
The save/save as dialog box causes any application to crash, the key shortcuts work fine though.
/var/crash is empty.
