Alexander,

I am in en_GB.

I have also tried all of your above suggestions to no success. I have
also removed my ~/.mozilla directory and let FF re-create it.

I have downloaded Firefox3.0RC2 from Mozilla.org and this runs
correctly, so this problem is either in the Ubuntu packaging or has been
fixed in RC2.
