The crashes have reappeared. They stop after disabling greasemonkey. I
have installed greasemonkey from the repositories:

$ apt-cache policy firefox-greasemonkey
firefox-greasemonkey:
  Installed: 0.8.20080119.0-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.8.20080119.0-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.8.20080119.0-0ubuntu1 0
