Its seen as a wishlist because its a feature request more than a bug 
since thunderbird never did what you want it to do so the only way is to 
use movemail or change settings.
Since you were able to fix this due to settings that means that is the 
way Mozilla wants you to do it. but for it to change it would need to be 
found or filed upstream.
