Also found in version 2.0.0.14 (20080505).
I set my font to courier new 10. WHen i respond to an email in html. By default my response is at the bottom of the original email. If i continue to type at the bottom (below the original message), the font and size is as set by me. However, if i try to respond "inline" the font changes to "variable width" size changes to 16 (I think it is 16). This is annoying to change it back to courier and size each time if you are responding to 30 or 50 messages each day.

My work around (not happy with it) has been to respond to all email in
plain text.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: thunderbird

I am an enthusiastic newcomer to Ubuntu Linux (v7.10) and to Thunderbird
and Firefox. Accordingly, please excuse me if my suggestion is stupid.
I am not a developer, but I am an experienced Windows XP user and a
part-time home computer software and hardware technician. I also do
volunteer work involving WinTel computers, and may try to switch them
  over to Linus.

My problem is that the font size in Thunderbird is not "sticky." I want
to set it and keep it at 14 point, but the program keeps defaulting into
extra-extra-large. Recommend an interface change whereby the user can
select font size in points (as is the case with Windows Outlook
Express), and that font size will stay in place until a new entry by the
  user changes it.

I do not want to seem ungrateful for all your impressive work, but this
is potentially a "show stopper" for me. I tried the Claws e-mail
client, but it is so stripped down that one cannot set font size or
  style in it.

  Best Regards, Scott Ochiltree.
