Wow! Finally someone thinking about audience.

In this case, I would highlight that _if_ one's internet connection is
slow _and_ you have used the search box in the upper right corner
before, this would be possibly a 'bug'.

The reason being that _any_ Firefox text input is usurped upon the page
load and pulled to the input box on the page.

In order:

1) Usurped if the start page is slow loaded. If they type 'Yahoo' (as I
have watched many folks on their Safari browsers do) into the search bar
top right, it will be refocused mid-stream to the start page search.
Problematic.

2) Case (a) and (b) would be unaffected. You would wait for the page in
case (b). Case (c) would be usurped potentially.

3) Usurped. Half the text would end up in the address bar and half in
the Ubuntu start page bar.

I'd probably think the wisest choice is to let the individual choose.
The problem with the bug is that the user can choose where to start, but
the focus will flip. I don't know if it requires a deeper semantic
investigation in this case, but I might just be shallow. If the focus
doesn't pull into the box, the individual can still choose where to
type. If it does, it doesn't matter where a person types as their focus
will be pulled to that box.
