sorry... never done this whole bug reporting thing before.... i forgot
to mention (yet again) that it happened on a brand new install of
ubuntu... I upgraded from 7.10 by doing a fresh install, keeping a
second partition which is mounted /home and doing an rm /home/.* prior
to the install, so no left over user configs.... i had no extensions
installed at the time....
