I have the same symptom, with some variation on conditions:
Graphics driver: radeon
Browsers: both Firefox 3.0 and Epiphany 2.21, on Hardy
Reproducable site: http://virtualnorthstar.org/ - the large pictures of in-world views
Zoom levels: All

That makes Firefox 3, Liferea, and Epiphany all affected, with the
common ground being gecko/xulrunner, so I'll second that assumption.
