Okay, thanks for the answer. Are you sure that apport is enabled?
I am no expert, but while looking into the log I found:
Dec 11 08:43:44 clbr kernel: [ 1194.030073] Oops: 0000 [1] SMP
And things like this just before the crash of the different
applications. I think there is a kernel oops and this is a linux kernel
issue and not firefox/rhythmbox/VirtualBox/ issue (many other
applications crashed too, look at the logs).
You could install the kerneloops package, to see that (or if) it is a
kernel oops, I think.
But remember: I'm no expert, just try to help.
