I notice the same here (current intrepid i386). Note that these are not
advertisement popups, but it rather seems that any "active" content
objects (here, they are mostly Flash applets) are somehow "detached"
from the firefox "rendering canvas" and seek out a new place to
continue, resulting in new windows.
