This rendering issue does not happen on my 32bit Hardy Firefox 3. The
page is rendered fine here.

The page mentioned does not require any specific font to render the
page. So, it would use whatever is set in Firefox or fontconfig for
sans-serif.

Can you please post the following information:
1. the output of 'fc-match -s sans'
2. the list of files in your /etc/fonts/conf.d/ directory
3. attach your ~/.fonts.conf if present
4. in firefox: enter 'about:config' in the URL and then use the filter to filter for 'font'. please post the output of that.
