This isn't a bug in Firefox and the site wasn't really scanning for
viruses. It was just a pop up that makes it look like it is scanning.
The website you visited is designed to scam people by making them think
they have a virus on their Windows machine, so they buy some dodgy
spyware/virus infested piece of software that claims to be able to rid
your machine of all viruses.
