Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

What version of thunderbird are you using? ('sudo apt-cache policy
thunderbird')


Could you please provide a screenshot of your thunderbird-layout? Are you sure, that you not just have to expand the folder list?

What errormessage are you getting when you try to open your trash-
folder?
