[Bug 155547] Thunderbird typing in compose window is occasionally very slow

Frequently when you are composing a new mail message in Gutsy's
Thunderbird there is a significant (>2-3 seconds) delay before your
keystrokes are displayed on screen. There are a number of people having
this problem as evidenced by this Ubuntu Forums post:

I've also noticed that the Thunderbird package in general is slower than
it used to be in the 1.x series. Please help--this is making me consider
switching to Evolution.
