Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 BETA using restricted ATI video drivers as
supplied by icon in menu bar.
Latest updates as of 4th Oct 2007.
Monitor set to default 1024X768 or HP A4033A monitor.
ATI graphics card X700 pci Express.
P.C. Acer T180 Semperon 3400+ 2 GBytes ram.
SATA 80GByte HDD.

Problem setting up video resolution from the start.
Default 1280x769@ 60Hz works but is not ideal for my old monitor.
Monitor is NOT detectable.
Reducing this to 1024x768 causes unpredictable effects.
1.) Mouse icon goes invisible (sometimes).
2.) Resolution of 1024x768 will not stay. Always returns to 1280x768 after reboot.
3.) Graphics option bullets are grayed out only "default screen" is in black and cannot be changed.

Regards,

Andrew
