I have Ubuntu 7.04 (with the standard U7.04 Thunderbird) + latest updates.
I don't have this problem on either my desktop or laptop.
However, one of my users does have this problem. They have exactly the same Ubuntu 7.04 installation as I do. They have slightly different hardware but still i386.
I can add some additional information (see attached screen-shot). If the
user uses areas A & C to select a directory there is no problem. If the
user uses area B to select a directory the file name is erased.
I've only noticed this with Thunderbird. However, the user uses very few
apps (OOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird mostly). This user is about 100km
from my office so I only get there every other month or so. Next time
I'm there I'll conduct some more extensive tests.
I think the importance on this bug should be higher. It has been a
productivity issue for us and I'm sure for many others. The user
referred to above had been inserting their own file name for ODT files
but without the extension (ie. no .odt). These files then appear in the
file manager as archives full of XML files and some directories. Took
some time to figure out this one - I suspected "foul play" at first.
