Hello Bas

As you saud, the Ubuntu and Kubuntu usergroups are on of the places
where you can find support. Besides that there are many others. There is
the tech answer system https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu and many
others such as forums, IRC chats, and online documentation. You can find
a list of them here http://www.ubuntu.com/support for Ubuntu and here
http://www.kubuntu.org/support.php for Kubuntu.

To run Update Manager (on an system with English language) Go to KMenu →
System → Adept Manager - Manage Packager. When prompted for a password
type your user password and press OK. Then click on "Check for Updates"
and after it as checked, click on "Install updates" if any available.

online documentation http://www.kubuntu.org/doc/7.10/index/C/index.html.

As for the dictionaries, you can find compatible ones in the Adept
manager once again. Just type "Thunderbird" and "Your_language" and a
pakage will appear. Install that once if it is the correct one.

Fell free to report bugs that you may find in Ubuntu/Kubuntu. I wish you
have a good experience using kubuntu.
