[Bug 162276] can't send an email with thunderbird need password

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Can't send an email with thunderbird. I have an smtp server and i need a password.
In outlook I had a place to clik saying use same setting then pop server.
But in thunderbird we don't have that kind of box.
Can you help me please that over a month I goes on internet to find an answer 
I'm using thunderbird in gutsy gibbon linux.
