[Bug 159860] cannot browse internet, firefox says connection timed out (gutsy)

i using a dell dimension 4100, with 384mb of ram, and a quest high speed
internet connection. the router is an actiontec gt701-wg. I have an 80gb
HDD, with a 60gb windows xp partition, and a 20gb windows me partition.
i have used previous versions of ubuntu (ubuntu 6.10, and kiwi 7.08)
without experiencing this problem. however with the gutsy live CD i
cannot use the internet, every page i attempt to visit it takes several
minutes without loading the page, and then says the connection timed
out. i was planning to install gutsy over the me partition, but since i
cannot use the internet, i am reconsidering.
