fwiw, a new ubuntu 7.04 install (from ubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386.iso md5
verified) experiences a similar problem of being unable to browse to
most https urls.

Updating firefox etc per above instructions (via apt-get) did not help.

Here may be a useful test case for diagnostics:

https://kingsolar.net  does not work
       ../www.kingsolar.net:8000/  does.  Both use same server software, keys etc..  the key is not matched to the domain in the second case (key does not specify www.) yet that is the case that works.

hopefully this has some diagnostic value.
