[Bug 116900] Firefox's layout.css.dpi (about:config) does nothing

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Ubuntu release: Feisty Fawn 7.04
System: x86 (Intel centrino)
Graphic card: ATI Radeon Mobility X600SE
Memory: 512MB
Installation method: LiveCD
Firefox version: latest (2.0.0.3)

Problem: It's impossible to change the DPI setting in Firefox. This is
giving me headaches because this is the first thing I normally set when
I run Firefox for the first time. If I don't, the text appears so small
on this tiny laptop LCD.

This is really strange, because it does work with the LiveCD. I mean,
boot up with the LiveCD, start Firefox, go to about:config and change
layout.css.dpi to some random value. Restart Firefox and voila, text is
smaller/bigger according to the DPI setting you just set.

However, once Feisty is installed, that setting does not work anymore.
Maybe Firefox got updated since the release of the LiveCD? But I doubt
that it's the problem. Anyway, I can't use this laptop to browse the web
without being able to change the layout.css.dpi setting in Firefox. Sure
I can zoom the text in, get an extension that will zoom automatically,
set a minimum font size, etc but these tricks are just workarounds and
most websites do not render correctly when forcing minimum text size for
example. Some other sites just ignore it.

Please, try to change that setting in your installation and give me some
feedback.

Thank you very much!
