Yes, this happens all the time.  I have to keep firefox open all the
time or run my script that down/up the eth0 interface once I close
firefox.

I upgraded to xubuntu 6.10 and I'm still having the problem so I think
this is with Firefox version 2.02.  I have not tried to downgrade
firefox yet.
