[Bug 90497] thunderbird "upgrade" today renders application disfunctional

Public bug reported:

the write, reply, and forward buttons don't work, and i can't rightclick
on mail to send it to folders

the file, edit, go, view, message, tools and help dropdown menus aren't functioning, either
so i can't tell you what version of thunderbird i'm running
