Please test if running firefox in safe-mode improved your situation:

  # firefox -safe-mode

from a console.

in any case, please reproduce when starting firefox like

  # firefox &> /tmp/firefox.log

from a console and attach the /tmp/firefox.log once this problem did
happen to you.
