I am not anglophone, then, I can'not describe what happened with precision. I.have taped apt-get thunderbird-gdb and :
 sudo apt-get install thunderbird-dbg

Construction de l'arbre des dépendances       
Lecture de l'information d'état... Fait
E: Impossible de trouver le paquet thunderbird-dbg

I can'not find /var.  In the file system I only see home and media. I do
not know why. Even when I tape sudo nautilus. I am not an expert.

I speak portuguese and french. I am sorry if I can'not add you in
english.
