[Bug 86045] sound not working

Binary package hint: firefox

no sound..all modules seem to be loaded.  SIS SI7102 chip on a Gericom Overdose 1540e
Celron M.

Test progress bar not moving in control Centre during sound test.
Nothing mentioned in dmesg or syslog.
