FlightGear packages on 20/22 LTS incorrect&unstable / out of date, respectively

there is a snap package that is not bound to the underlying release and
can update as needed (snaps use a rolling release model by default) ...

to get the deb in the archive updated would be a little harder since
usually the release is frozen on release day and typically there are no
updates to new major versions of a package ...

if you want to try it anyway, you could follow:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

or alternatively ask the backports project to provide a backported
package in the ubuntu-backports archive ...

flightgear is a universe package and has no actual dedicated maintainer
in ubuntu itself, so whatever was in debian when the debian-import-
freeze happened in a release cycle ends up in the archive of the LTS
...
