This package is automatically synced from Debian. It doesn't look like
anyone is looking after it right now.

It looks like somebody needs to volunteer to maintain the packaging in
Debian, and see if the current Debian maintainer is willing to hand it
over. Then any package updates will autosync to Ubuntu and, providing
this happens before the freeze, will appear in the next Ubuntu release.
