In addition, I would like to ask for a MOTU volunteer to specifically
collaborate on the TORQUE package, which is now in REVU. I have done
the grunt work, it's gone through a couple of cycles of reviewing by
persia and minghua, and I estimate that the package is 90% complete.
It is, however, a complicated packaging with 10 splitoff packages,
init & maintainer scripts and the works.
I imagine with such a complicated package, it will be difficult for
me alone as a non-MOTU to get it finished in time for Hardy. I will
be a lot of back and forth on REVU and waiting for someone to have
time to get acquainted with the package and review it.
For those who don't know, TORQUE is a batch queue client-server
system, especially designed to be the user front end of a computing
cluster. It would be really good to get this into Hardy, especially
since Mark Shuttleworth's vision for UL2008 includes:
"large-scale government deployments of Ubuntu on the desktop (there
have now been several) specialist deployments, for example high-
performance computing clusters, or vertical market solutions"
Torque is a piece of key software for a HPC cluster! So, if there's a
MOTU out there willing to put a bit of work in helping me get the
package done in time, it would be most welcome!
Cheers,
