Unfortunately the zim package received very little prerelease
testing for Ubuntu 7.10, with the result that there are several
outstanding bugs. Most of there have been addressed by newer upstream
versions, and the next release of Ubuntu will include zim 0.23.
To fix your specific bug in Ubuntu 7.10, a Stable Release Update
(1) would need to be prepared. While I suspect you've encountered
either the internal links don't work or the invalid utf8 bug, it is
certainly hard to fix specifically in the absence of more information.
I'd recommend you either file a bug against zim (2) outlining your
specific issue and asking for a stable release update, or try to work
around the issue until Ubuntu 8.04 is released.
Further, if you'd be willing to test zim from one of the Alpha or
Beta releases for 8.04, and report any bugs encountered, it would be a
great help in ensuring that the released zim met expected quality
standards.
Thank you.
