Oh, indeed. There's been a suggestion on this thread for Launchpad to
automatically subscribe the Maintainer to the package. That wouldn't solve this
as usually the Maintainer is MOTU, but perhaps we could find a solution which
solves this and is likely to be accepted by the Launchpad crew.
