That's fine and works for quite some people.

No. If you have somebody mentoring you, you can mail him/her instead.

You can try ubuntu-motu at lists.ubuntu.com - also we're working to get a
mentoring mailing list, which is not set up yet. (RT ticket is filed.)

You don't have to act instantaneously - adding comments to REVU or
mailing with the reviewer should work too.
