the messy thread about ipython

Hello MOTUs, Hello Norbert (I send it directly to you, too, because Reinhard
told me, that you are actually not directly subscribed to ubuntu-motu@),

Ok, first of all, I have to apologise towards Norbert, because it wasn't nice
what I said in some lines of my mails. I hope we can try to forget this issue
and go on with our normal work.

Regarding ipython, there is nothing anymore what I or anyone else can do, only
in syncing the latest release of ipython.
The breezy package was moved to dapper, because there was no other version
available during merge time.

Regarding the patch of doko, and taking this patch towards breezy, was not
good, but actually didn't break the package. It just print out a warning,
that the python-profiler package is not installed, and can't be used.
This update I didn't see during the breezy merge, shit happens, but as I said,
I can't do anything anymore regarding this merge, and actually there was no
harm anyways.

For the future, if something is questionable about a merged package, I think
Norbert can forward this to other debian package maintainers, please ask on
#ubuntu-motu or on the ubuntu-motu ML, eventually via gmane.

This is the easiest way to avoid conflicts, and stupid blog entries (sorry,
Norbert, it was stupid) and more stupid rants and flames on some mailinglist.

And please, in common, there is always choice: Use a patch or reject a patch.
If I think the debian maintainer or upstream made a mistake (as seen with
wesnoth) and I don't use the patch proposed by upstream or debian maintainer,
I will use another approach to fix it. This choice has to be made every
single time for every single package. We can't avoid this.

But we can try to avoid that something like the discussion about ipython is
happening again (ok, this is my believe, and I believe in a perfect world ;))

Regards,

\sh
