It's not about "LP will solve all problems", it's more about "Infrastructure
problems are Canonical/Ubuntu Foundation Problems". And the infrastructure
which Canonical build/is building up for Ubuntu and all deriviates is based
on Launchpad.
And it's right, that the launchpad developers are doing all they can to make
us happy. Rheinhard and I met them during UBZ, and I'm really sure, that they
are working quite hard on this project.
It's not about "LP will solve all problems", it's more about "Infrastructure
problems are Canonical/Ubuntu Foundation Problems" and it's much more about
"MOTU can't and won't change the infrastructure problems".
We are volunteers and that's it. That's why it's easier to develop for Ubuntu,
because I know, when we raise an issue (like Rheinhard did yesterday, because
there was an odd output problem with the dapper-changes mail), at least I can
be sure, that someone is working on it (in Rheinhards case Daniel
Silverstone).
To be honest, I don't know when all issues are solved (but I don't care about
it, because I know they will be solved), but it's better for me, when I have
one group of people where I can raise these issues, and not to have a bunch
of people, who should do the job, but walking different ways.
For me that's one of the advantages of Ubuntu, to concentrate on that what I'm
doing and not fiddeling around with other things.

He showed us his HCT system during UBZ and it covers all sourcecode related
problems we have right now, even the problems with merges and dropped/lost
source packages.
