ubuntu_giant's Mentorship Request

Hi, I would like to be part of the Ubuntu development community.

I'm an undergrad pursuing a degree in computer science.  I've been using 
Ubuntu off and on for about four years now (Ubuntu was my first distro), though 
I've switched to others (Zenwalk, PCLinuxOS) in between then and now.  My 
skills include LAMPP, Javascript, Java, C++, C, BASH, and Perl.

I am mainly interested in either application or kernel development (or both).

Applications I frequently use: VIM, Songbird, Firefox, Kate, Cinelerra, 
Blender.
