I have  a dual monitor  setup (one for gaming,  one for browsing) and it
works fine with 8GB.

You'd  need  16GB for media  editing, CAD,  and workstation stuff.

You can get windows 7 but I'd highly recommend 8.1 for  gaming. It is
better for gaming in every way possible, including using RAM  more
efficiently.  If you don't like the metro  ui, you can download classic
shell or start-is-back  and give it a more  traditional windows feel.
