  "Rescan music library" stops after a few songs

Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Banshee does not monitor my library, although the preference option is
  set. When I select "Rescan music library" from the menu, I see the
  progress bar at the bottom left for approx. 1 second, then it
  disappears and scanning stops.
