Ubuntu 11.10 (vmlinuz-3.0.0-17-generic) on a Lenovo T61-8898-6DG

I'm unable to play LastFM tracks. Context pane says "Waiting for
playback to begin..."

Other noted issue, on startup of Banshee the volume is muted regardless
of machine settings and setting when closing Banshee in the previous
session.

  The message "Waiting for playback to begin..." never disappears and
  lyrics are not shown

  I get some error messages like this:
