GNOME Shell does not support the sound indicator. I've no idea if they
ever plan to, so I'll just reassign the bug there.
** Package changed: banshee (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu)

Title:
banshee not shown in volume indicator in gnome shell
Status in “gnome-shell” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
I recently switched form Unity to Gnome Shell on 11.10. When Banshee starts, it is not reported on the volume indicator applet --- which makes a bit difficult to stop it :-)
This is a laptop with a long series of upgrades since 9.10, so maybe it's a problem of "stuck" configuration. It used to work in Unity...
