It's almost like when dust settles on (under) the sound volume knob for
older sound systems. If those got "dusty" one would hear "scratches" as
they were adjusting volume levels.

Bug description:
  When moving the sound control slider in banshee, it creates noise. The
  best way to hear it is to move the slider between lowest and maximum
  level.

  This does not happen if using the sound control applet in the system
  bar.
