Ok, I installed Banshee 2.1.0.
When going on the page http://somafm.com/play/groovesalad, Firefox asks if you want to open it or download it.
* if I download it and try to open it ("open with banshee", or drag & drop as a new playlist), it won't work;
* if I tell it to open the file with banshee, it will indeed play the music (without displaying it as a playlist);
* if I got to File > "open location" and open the playlist's url (http://somafm.com/groovesalad.pls), it works.
So I think Banshee 2.1.0 solves the problem for the streamed playlist
(not for a local file). Or maybe it worked and I had only tried from the
downloaded file, I'm not sure.

Title:
banshee won't open groovesalad
Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: banshee
I've got the ugly codecs installed. But when I go to open the .pls
file that soma.fm spits out, nothing happens!
If I add it manually and try to listen to the feed, it doesn't work.
But upon trying to listen to it a second time, suddenly it plays.
Obviously it supports it, it just isn't processing the metadata
correctly and getting to playing the stream the first time around.
Definitely not working correctly, this is a bug.
