I don't necessarily agree that bug 771249 is a duplicate of this.
771249 was a FFE request with a much broader scope; it was influenced by
this bug, but also by several other (more severe, imo) bugs related to
track changes with gapless.  But anyway, that makes little difference at
this point since the request was too late for Natty.  Hopefully this
will all become irrelevant in the next cycle anyway, as the current plan
is to completely re-work Banshee's gapless implementation.  See upstream
