Bug 736631 only mentions external devices, but it concerns hardware detection in general, so audio CDs are impacted.

  Cannot play Audio CD

Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: banshee

  Banshee doesn't seem to notice the Audio CD I have inserted, although
  it has the "CD Audio" plugin listed in the sources list twice.
  Removing ~./config/banshee-1 didn't do any good. I've checked my
  .local directories and there's nothing which would suggest a custom
  version of banshee or the like.
