The upstream Bug has been marked as duplicate of #608879

There is a type-ahead feature in banshee, but you have to trigger it by pressing "?" first. This is not very obvious...
Pressing "?" first is some sort of workaround, banshee uses some keys without modifier as shortcuts.
For example "F" and "F11" changes to fullscreen mode. The common
shortcuts for fullscreen mode are "F11" and Ctrl + Enter. Ctrl + Enter
instead restarts the current title. IMHO this behaviour is more
confusing then helpful, and i believe it isn't conform to the GNOME HIG
Guidlines. Ubuntu would be more easy to use if Banshee, Totem, and
Rhythmbox would use the same Shortcuts.

Type-ahead in Artist List does not work in Banshee 1.9.5

Maybe this sounds like a minor Issue, but it is a big leap backwards
instead of Rhythmbox for me and Banshee should replace Rhythmbox in
the near future.
Neigther the Artist list, nor the Album View supports type-ahead.
It is very comfortable in Rhythmbox to type "kru" in the Artist list and it jumps to "Kruder & Dorfmeister", in many cases this is much faster then using the Search Feature.
As i know the type-ahead feature is built into the GTK+ list widget.
IMHO it should be very easy to implement this feature in the Artist
List.
I tested the current Development Snapshot from the "Banshee Team PPA"
