Just FYI, on the Windows side, it looks like it only supports up to 24-bits. Here is a quote from technet:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457106.aspx

"Remote Desktop supports as many colors as the client computer will support, up to 24-bit color. It automatically detects the color depth of the remote and local computer and adapts as required. Users can modify color settings in the Display Properties sheet."

On the other hand, it looks like Terminal Services Client 6.0 supports 32-bit.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925876

"Visual improvements
Remote Desktop Connection now supports 32-bit color and font smoothing.

To enable 32-bit color, follow these steps:
Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click Communication, and then click Remote Desktop Connection.
Click Options, click the Display tab, and then click Highest Quality (32 bit) in the Colors list."

After a little Googling, I couldn't find anything about supporting the 32-bit in rdesktop, not even a feature request. Like James said, that would have to happen before Gnome-RDP could support it. You might consider opening a feature request issue here:

Title:
  True Color 24 bit max

Status in “gnome-rdp” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-rdp

In the Colors box True Color only goes up to 24bit. Is there any way
to get higher than 24 bit?

This might not be a bug, but I didn't find any gnome-rdp user forums.
